The new Black Cat vegan café/resto in Santiago de Compostela has its ‘roots in Hackney, London’, just like me! As a Londoner living in Galicia I was excited to try it and I wasn’t disappointed! I was a bit early for lunch so I had a vermut which came with a gorgeous light croqueta and a piece of totally authentic Galician-style empanada, followed by a café con leche de avena (oat milk) that was definitely the best I’ve had anywhere in Galicia! The owners were super friendly even though they were getting ready for lunchtime. I’ll definitely stay and eat next time! Oh and the cakes looked amazing too. It’s located just outside the old city of Santiago so if you’re arriving on the ‘French Camino’ you should definitely stop here and fortify yourself for that final kilometre! They speak English, Galician, Spanish and Portuguese!

Stayed in Santiago for two days, a friend recommended the place, and it was so good I had to go back the second day. Loved the burger and the fries, the salads and the gyosas. The service is relaxed, and very friendly. I’d recommend to make a reservation, since I was very lucky to get the last available table.

Some of the best vegan food in Santiago! Varied menu and great price! We went here for breakfast and lunch and both times were incredible. The spreading board was very good and the ham and cheese Croissants! Great coffee as well. The staff are super lovely and welcoming, all round great place!

Best vegan breakfast and lunch in Santiago! Unbelievably welcoming and friendly people here! The food is fantastic and the chef Nacho makes huge portions. Everything on the menu is vegan and the dishes served change frequently. We tried multiple different dishes both for breakfast and lunch (we kept coming back!) and all of the food was delicious. Staropramen on draft as well. There are loads of other little treats like empanadas, croissants, brownies etc. but they sell quick so get here early! Definitely come here for good food and even better vibes

Best (tofu) vegan burger I ever had! Absolutely delicious. Also the complimentary Galician/Mexican flavoured stew/soup to start was so flavoursome. A really lovely front of house lady & chef. Lovely atmosphere. They stock Palestinian cola which I was delighted to see. Such gorgeous food in the centre of Santiago. Thank you. I’ll be recommending!

I was so excited when I stumbled upon this vegan café! This was by far the best meal I’ve had since I arrived in Spain three weeks ago. It’s so difficult to find vegan food here, yet alone an entire vegan café! After lunch, I stayed and ordered a café con leche and read for a while. The café is a chill spot to eat or work (others were working on their computers). Definitely give this place a visit if you are in Santiago!
